Recruiters are Jerk Offs – No Common Courtesy

I’ve dealt with many recruiters in my day. Now, I’ve come to the conclusion that 95% of them are jerk offs! Recruiters are now the next generation of used car salesmen.

I am seeing a common theme of recruiters and companies NOT following up with candidates. In other words, regardless of how well the interviews went, if the company decides not to hire you (for one reason or another), they dont tell you!

Think about you, both the recruiter/company and yourself spent time together during an interview. A courtesy email or call to indicate that you are not the candidate, is common courtesy. This courtesy seems to have been lost in corporate america.

Its a theme that I’m seeing personally, and in the marketplace in the hole. Companies such as IBM, WIPRO (as mentioned by a previous author), Maxim Magazine, Rolling Stone, and a bunch of smaller sized companies.

With courtesy out the window, you can see why many individuals dont stay at companies for long!

Eddie Murphy Divorces Wife – Kids Hate Him

Eddie Murphy’s marriage to Tracey Edmonds ended since her kids hated him. Now , you would think that Eddie Murphy is loved by all. Has the downturn in his career spread through other areas of his life?

Heath Ledger – Will the Suicide Lesson Be Learned

The unfortunate event that happed with Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain), is going to be a main story for weeks to come. This Australian actor had the appearance of everything going for him.

What is forgotten is the over riding story of suicide. It’s a topic that many just do not understand. To a point where it brings anger and sorrow. Ultimately, was there something that could have been done by his circle of friends, family, workers? Or is it something that is SO personal that regardless of the situation, there is no way to help. I’d hate to think this is the case.

Hooters – Just Wont Go Away! Wings and All

Hooters is an interesting brand. You have a bunch of high school, college, and ‘drifters’ that put on that outfit and work at Hooters. You have Hooters Air, which was a dismal idea. I’m still trying to figure out how Hooters continues to expand. My guess, is that guys like eating crap and looking at it also!

But then again, lets look a little further. Its an international story with a different twist in each country. You also have a casino in las vegas for Hooters. If you decide to go in it, you’ll never go back!

Real Estate Agents Keep Crying

A funny thing happened in the housing market the last 18 months…. real estate agents are realizing that they aren’t the shit! Many of these agents would take an online class and pass a simple “spell abc” test and poof, they are real estate agents. Now that those commissions arent coming through, and deals aren’t closing, you are seeing alot of these agents working at hooters. Couple even becames strippers….. hopefully not the ones I’ve dealt with!

The hatred of the cockiness of these agents turned begging and constantly calling, i found to be humerous. Ask the agents to clean your apartment of house for a couple months if they want your commission. Scrub baby scrub!

Celebrity Apprentice Playmate Tiffany Fallon

Over the years, I really started disliking the Apprentice. At first it was a great concept, then turned commercialized. However, with the addition of this celebrity apprentice, I must say that the buzz is back. The first one to be kicked off was 2005 Playmate of the Year Tiffany Fallon.

Guys were hoping to see this Tiffany Fallon:

Instead, guys saw a much dressed down version of this hottie. Hot Dog Outfits… are you kidding me. Think if she stuck around, you would have seen Hugh Hefner on the show, with who knows how many playmates to appear.  Good ol Jenna Jameson appeared, which was a nice surprise. Hopefully next time she appears like she did in her prime!

Wipro Technologies – Avoid this Body Shop Consulting Company

I’ve been a consultant in the IT / Software field for about 10 years. Wipro, has to be the worst biggest company out their in the marketplace. They utilize Business facing consumers at the client sites, then uses offshore indian developers for development (pretty standard in todays age).

The issue lies in the lack of professionalism that I was given. I had 3 phone interviews. Each one of them with positive feedback. Then at the very end, no follow-up. I can understand if they went with a different candidate, but not even an email or voicemail after all the positive feedback.

In consulting speak, this is a true garbage body shop consulting company. Companies like this give quality consulting companies a bad image. For anyone in the consulting / software arena, I would think twice, strike that, dont think! Like any body shop, they treat their consultants as a billable body. Similar to the way a taxi dispatcher has tells their drivers where to go! Their is no fostering of their career, regardless of level. And to finish this all up, their churn rate (people who get hired then leave voluntarily) is the amongst the highest in the consulting area.
