You see it everywhere. Text Vote to 313131… American Idol made it quite popular. Now, its very easy for any business to have a keyword (in the above example “vote”) and short code to rent. You can pay $25 for a keyword (per month) to a specific short code. Then to text people, it costs you 2.5 to 5 cents to text any cell number. Lets think about this, if a business has 1000 people to text, it would only cost them $50/month to do so. They have your phone number, and can keep the texts going… its the newest form of sms marketing

January 31st, 2009 admin March madness is always a media blitz. You get the desired 18-35 age group with a high percentage college educated. Which many believe has a greater exposure to becoming sales.
One thing that is happening this year is the increase of energy shots. We all know the energy drinks, the red bull, monster, etc… but energy shots, has been growing in popularity. The most popular one is 5 hour energy. A small 2 oz bottle that is “suppose” to give you 5 hours of energy. The marketing plan, more like the gimmic behind it, is quite clever. Every consumer is looking for that boost of energy, without the side effects. The problem is, most of it is a big smoke screen. Most of the energy shot is truly junk.
Then the best part, is you have all those copy cats out there saying their energy shot is better. 6 hour energy, 7 hour energy.. c’mon now! What gets me boiling is the lack of innovation out there. I came across once site that has 400mg of caffeine energy in one teaspoon of liquid.. now thats a powerful punch

And right smack in front of me, are 3 indians working on code. Oh yea, and let me not forget about the interview going on by the window. At a starbucks!

So Pissed that Swingtown Isn’t Coming Back
January 6th, 2009 admin Swingtown, a show based off of the 70s culture witha sex twist. On a local channel this past summer. The show had a core following, but was never able to reach the numbers that the network needs to make it worth its while. The hope is that it gets picked up a cable channel. Well, season one got picked up , and they have exclusivity. In essance, this makes it virtually impossible for an additional season to be started.
I thought it was unique enough that it should come back. Time will tell, but right now its not looking so good
The good tv shows are almost Back!
January 6th, 2009 admin December and January are great for the holidays, but are horrible for tv shows. Its that lull during the season where theres just reruns, and blah shows. Now, over the next two weeks, tv shows will be gettign quite interesting again. 24, Lost, Fringe, those are just 3 of the hardcore shows that are loved by many
Those Damn New Years Resolution
January 6th, 2009 admin I go to the gym today, which happens to be the first Monday after NEw Years. OMG… the amount of people that showed up was INSANE. These are the resolution believers. Over 90% of these ‘resolution’ workouts never get passed the 2 month mark. That means for the next two months, the normal gym goer will have to deal with the lack of parking spots, struggles to get to a treadmille, and you can forget about finding a damn spray bottle! Another giveaway are the guys walking in with red bulls, coffees, and chit chatting more than working out. Dont get them anywhere near a real energy shot!
I HATE the “Me TOO” Energy Drinks
January 6th, 2009 admin First Red Bull, then 5 hour energy shot. These were innovators in the field of energy drinks. Yet, both these products dont exactly work. They have an amazing marketing department that lets consumers think they are receiving energy. When in fact, they are getting sugars with a lil bit of caffeine.
There are some innovative energy drinks out there, one of these has 400mg of caffeine in a teaspoon of liquid. Thats insane!. At least its for real!
